In the current organizational climate of dynamic change, the role and importance of effective workplace teams has grown significantly. The 50 activities in this manual are based on Mike Woodcook's 11 building blocks of effective teamwork. They are designed to be used to train and develop the many types of organizational teams - both formal and informal - that now exist, including top teams, management teams, technical teams, support teams, process improvement teams, problem solving groups and self-managing teams.
Together, they will enable participants to develop:
• An understanding of balanced team roles • Clear team objectives • A climate of support, trust and openness within the team • Sound team procedures • Appropriate team leadership skills • Good Communications inside and outside the team • Personal, as well as team, growth
The activities use a mix of training methods including discussion exercises, questionnaires, buzz group exercises, action plans, simulations, personal and group profiles, and games. The emphasis is on learning from direct experience, so there are no theoretical papers or intellectual debates.
Each of the activities in this collection includes detailed trainer guidance on how to run the exercise and what you can expect to get out of it. Briefing sheets and handouts for the participants are supplied as ready-to-photocopy masters.
