This resource for Trainers, Learning & Development Managers and Line Managers demonstrates the world's best known business coaching framework in a very practical, effortless and illuminating way.
Are you responsible for getting the message across about coaching? Can you describe to people what a coaching style of conversation sounds like? Can you convey the flow, the rapport, the techniques, the structure and the potential outcomes of a well-conducted coaching conversation?
Coaching means different things to different people. It's very common to hear coaching described in a way that resonates more with mentoring or even instruction. Many believe that coaching means sharing knowledge and experience, guiding, demonstrating, suggesting, advising and telling.
This audio CD has professional actors role-playing a convincing coaching dialogue that can be used in every workshop saving the time and effort of describing coaching, or role-playing a conversation with one of the delegates, on every workshop and:
-
Saves you the (significant) effort of scripting a dialogue, ensuring that key coaching techniques are brought out in it, sourcing suitable professional actors, hiring a recording studio, editing the recording, and trialing its effectiveness.
So, how exactly can I use this product?
Internal trainers can incorporate the CD supported by Trainer's Notes into their coaching workshops, or if an external training company is used they can integrate the material into their workshop content.
The CD is suitable for use with staff at all levels to broaden awareness and understanding of coaching throughout the whole organisation.
What exactly do I get?
A professionally recorded 2-track CD with the coaching conversation recorded twice. On one track, the manager is played by a male actor and on the other track, the manager is female - giving you the flexibility to choose your preferred option depending on your audience. Each recording lasts approximately 12 minutes - ideal for playing in a workshop setting or team meeting - long enough to draw out lots of learning points, but not so long that people get bored and fall asleep!
An easy-to-use set of comprehensive Trainer's Notes, including the transcript of the conversation. This 20-page booklet provides you with everything you need to introduce the recording, clear guidance on when to pause it, and a set of key Learning Points to draw out of the discussion after each stage of the Model.
What is the theme of the coaching conversation?
A positive theme was deliberately chosen, one in which the manager is proposing a developmental temporary upgrade for a direct report into a managerial role. Experience shows that too often people perceive coaching as a remedial intervention and think that it can only be used when there is something wrong whereas coaching actually works best in the context of success i.e. when someone is already performing well and has the potential to excel.
